Single-split or multi-split: how to choose?
By the Aircadia team
Choosing between a single-split and a multi-split is the first question to settle before installing air conditioning. It all comes down to the number of rooms to cool and the layout of your home.
The single-split: simple and economical
A single-split is one outdoor unit for one indoor unit. Ideal to cool a single room: a bedroom, living room or office. It’s the most affordable solution and the quickest to fit — often half a day.
The multi-split: several rooms, one outdoor unit
A multi-split links several indoor units to a single outdoor unit. Perfect to cool a whole flat or house without multiplying outdoor units — a real plus in a co-ownership or on a visible façade.
How to decide?
Ask yourself: how many rooms do you want to cool? Over what period? What’s the aesthetic constraint on the façade? When in doubt, a technical on-site survey lets us size the installation precisely and avoid over- or under-sizing.
The Aircadia tip: beyond 2 or 3 rooms, a multi-split is almost always more worthwhile than several standalone single-splits.
